Abstract

This Standard applies to canned niche products prepackaged into metal, glass, wooden containers, and establishes methods for determining the external appearance, tightness of the container and the condition of the inner surface of the metal container. The Standard does not apply to canned milk products. The application of methods should be provided for in standards and specifications that establish technical requirements for each type of canned niche products. Selected packaging units (jars, tubes, bottles, barrels, boxes) are subjected to inspection. At the same time, the presence and condition of a paper label or lithographic print shall be taken into examination, the content of the label inscription, as well as container defects: leakage, leaks, swelling lids and bottoms, deformation of the bottoms and lids and the form of corners at the sides of the can, flapping lids, etc. Determination of the tightness of a filled stoppered glass containers in the stream (for canned infant food) is the method that applies to glass jars sealed under vacuum with metal covers, the central part of which is made in the form of a control elastic membrane, which occupies convex or concave limit position, and is aimed at checking the position of lid control membrane (convex or concave).
