Rules for production, processing, labeling and sale contains provisions of Codex Alimentarius. This Interstate Standard has been developed with a view of: (a) protecting consumers from fraud, misrepresentation and the acquisition of counterfeit product; (b) protection of bona fide producers of organic products from manufacturers releasing products that do not meet the requirements of this standard, for organic; (c) ensuring compliance with the requirements of this standard at all stages of production, preparation, storage and transportation; (d) harmonization of provisions on the production, certification, identification and labelling of organic products; and (e) support for the development of organic food programs for the production and turnover of organic products in order to preserve the environment. The standard needs to be updated taking into account technical progress and experience in its application. The requirements of the standard do not contradict the restrictive measures and other regulations of the EAEU and state that adopted the standard, designed to ensure consumer confidence in the organic products and prevention of illegal actions in the market of organic products, and apply to both domestic and imported products labelled as "organic". The standard applies to products of organic production of plant, animal, microbial origin, as well as aquaculture in natural, processed or manufactured form used by humans as food, used as animal feed, planting and seed material, and establishes requirements for its production (manufacturing), storage, transportation and trade. Products of organic production are put into circulation if their labelling requirements of this standard and other regulatory documents for a specific product in accordance with the relevant national regulations of the countries that have adopted the standard. In organic production, it is prohibited to use genetically modified organisms and products made from genetically modified organisms or with the help of genetically engineered modified organisms as food, feed, food additives, technological aids, plant protection products, substances for soil improvement, fertilizers, seeds and planting material, in the cultivation of microorganisms or animals.
