Abstract

This Act provides for the establishment of the Fiji International Seabed Authority as a body corporate and the management and administration of mineral activities affecting the seabed, an Area under contract with the International Seabed Authority (ISA) and under sponsorship by a State Party, i.e. a State Party to the Law of the Sea Convention, sponsoring a person to carry out exploration or exploitation of minerals in the Area in accordance with Article 153 (2) (b) of the Convention.
