Abstract

This decree promotes the use of biomethane and other advanced biofuels in the transport sector. The provision is in line with the provisions of the EU Directives on the promotion of energy from renewable sources. The Decree applies to new biomethane production plants that have come into operation after its date of entry into force. This decree also applies to advanced biofuel production plants other than biomethane. The provisions of this decree also apply to plants already qualified or in the process of being qualified, on request of the producer to be submitted to Energy services manager GSE S.p.A. within 30 days of the entry into force of this decree. This decree also applies to existing plants for the production and use of biogas, which, after its date of entry into force, are converted, partially or totally, to the production of biomethane. The qualification procedure, to be submitted to GSE S.p.A, by the producer who intends to have access to the provisions of this decree is described by article 9.
