Country/Territory Iraq Territorial subdivision Kurdistan Region Document type Miscellaneous Date 2010 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Livestock, Food & nutrition Keyword Fish products Public health Drugs Standards Certification International trade Authorization/permit Packaging/labelling Vaccination Animal health Geographical area Asia, Middle East, Near East and North Africa, Persian Gulf, Western Asia Abstract These Instructions give specifications for (1) Veterinary medicines (i) the producers of veterinary medicines must be international companies with good reputation and known internationally, and it is required that the producing country consumes these medicines in their countries and that the producing company possesses a ISO.GMP certification; (ii) it is not allowed to enter medicines that have not specified on their package that the substance is for veterinary use; (iii) drugs prohibited to be used according to the Instructions are forbidden to enter without special approval; (iv) the importer is required to submit an official request to the concerned authorities to obtain the import approval stating the commercial name of the material, its scientific composition, symbol, date of manufacture and expiry, type of package, weight and quantity, name of the company and the producing country, and bring all the following original documents attached with the shipment. (2) Vaccines, biological materials and veterinary genetics (i) it is required that the sources of these materials be from European-American sources or have been introduced to the region or Iraq previously; (ii) it is not permissible to introduce any new paragraph or type until a scientific study is done and their entry is officially approved; (iii) are specified the required documents to be brought with each additional shipment; (iv) it is necessary the GMP.GLP.ISO; (v) the health certificate for the kits must be brougth to ensure their safety when used by laboratory workers. (3) Specifications of fresh fish suitable for human consumption (i) the fish must smell natural; (ii) their external appearance should be shiny, and their scales are not easily separable from the skin; (iii) the nature of the body must be compact and not wavy; (iv) the fish's eyes should be bright and shiny, and not sunken; (v) the gills should be natural, reddish, have a natural smell and a homogeneous color.
