Abstract

These Instructions consisting of 86 articles aim to regulate pesticides for the purpose of allowing their use in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. They also include renewal, cancellation and re-registration. ِِArticle 4 states that pesticides may only be registered if the establishment or the company is registered with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, and one for the manufacture of insecticides and rodenticides, or agricultural pesticides and agricultural chemical products, the wholesale trade of fertilizers and agricultural chemical products, or the trade of natural or industrial flowers and plants, and agricultural materials. The Instructions indicate (i) which pesticides can be registered and which cannot; (ii) the information that must be contained in the registration application; (iii) bases on which the Committee accepts or refuses the registration of the pesticide; (iv) conditions to allow local factories to register pesticides for export purposes; (v) rules for pesticide package label (identification card); (vi) rules about the trade name of the registered pesticide; (vii) cases in which the registration of the pesticide for local use shall be canceled by a decision of the Minister. Article 15 establishes the Pesticides Registration Committee. In any case, the Ministry has the right to subject a registered pesticide to testing by conducting research and experiments on it.
