Hazardous wastes and medical wastes should not be mixed during collection and storing process. Wastes such as glass, plastic materials, metals and paper could be recycled, and therefore should be seperated from each other prior to recycling process. Recycling facilities are subject to license by the Ministry of Environment. Environmental Impact Assessment is needed for these facilities. Medical institutions and hospitals are obliged to collect their wastes and store them temporarily until being collected by the municipalities. Wastes that could not be recycled will be disposed of, sometimes through burning and necessary precautions shall be taken to prevent excess emissions. Municipalities are obliged to send an annual status report on waste storage sites and disposal facilities, together with the check list given in the annex to this Instruction.
