Abstract

Forests sizing not less than 3 ha. can be classified as memorial forests and named after an individual or an institution, provided that the corresponding fees are paid. Fees are determined annually by the General Directorate of Afforestation. Individuals and institutions will have no right what so ever on these forests except naming rights. A separate Order has been promulgated covering the procedures for the institution of memorial forests, titled "Procedures and Principles of Establishing and Managing Memorial Forests" and included as an Annex to this Instruction, whose provisions are mandatory. Memorial forests could be instituted within state forests, on treasury lands allocated for forestation, and preferably on lands adjacent to roads. Memorial forests could not be renamed.
