Abstract

The Instruction provides guidelines for the General Directorate of Afforestation and Erosion Control staff of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry on the principles and techniques of grass improvement, and preparation and implementation of grazing related projects. The instruction first provides definitions of meadow, graze lands, summer pastures, winter pastures, artificial pastures, meadow improvement, grazing capacity, decreasing phylum, increasing phylum, invading phylum, etc. During the improvement process close coordination will be ensured between the beneficiary villagers and service provider agencies. Grazing plans should be prepared and implemented together with the local village population. Improvement methods shall focus on timing out the grazing schedule. Number of animals to be grazed and timing should be considered. Grafting, fertilizing, cleansing of harmful plants, implementing erosion controlling measures, and erecting animal pens are some of the techniques that could be used.
