These Rules enter into force on the 30 October 1971.
Abstract

These Rules, consisting of 46 sections divided into nine Chapters, regulate the production, manufacturing and use of insecticides and creates the competent Board entitled to: a) advise the Central Government on the manufacture of insecticides under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 (65 of 1951); b) specify the classification of insecticides on the basis of their toxicity and if suitable for aerial application; c) advise on tolerance limits for insecticides, residues and establishment of minimum intervals between the application of insecticides and harvest in respect of various commodities; d) specify the shelf-life of insecticides, etc. The grant or renewal of a licence to manufacture any insecticide shall be made in Form III or Form IV, as the case may be, to the licensing officer and shall be accompanied by a fee for every insecticide for which the licence is applied.
