Abstract These Rules, consisting of 46 sections divided into nine Chapters, regulate the production, manufacturing and use of insecticides and creates the competent Board entitled to: a) advise the Central Government on the manufacture of insecticides under the Industries (Development and Regulation) Act, 1951 (65 of 1951); b) specify the classification of insecticides on the basis of their toxicity and if suitable for aerial application; c) advise on tolerance limits for insecticides, residues and establishment of minimum intervals between the application of insecticides and harvest in respect of various commodities; d) specify the shelf-life of insecticides, etc. The grant or renewal of a licence to manufacture any insecticide shall be made in Form III or Form IV, as the case may be, to the licensing officer and shall be accompanied by a fee for every insecticide for which the licence is applied.
