Abstract

The Government may, by notification, establish an Authority to be known as the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, composed of members to be appointed by the Government. The Authority may carry out river conservancy works including regulation of river flow for navigational purposes, maintain hydrographic surveys, develop rivers, carry out dredging programmes, develop ports, develop rural water transport, etc. The Authority may enforce rules and regulations pertaining to inland waterways and navigation.
