Based on the United Nations' sustainability target 12.3, an overall target of a 50% reduction in food waste in Norway is set by 2030. The reduction target of 50% by 2030 will be accomplished in two sub-targets of 15% reduction by 2020 and 30% by 2025. For these purposes, the Agreement lays down a working definition of food waste. The Agreement is open for other relevant industry organizations to join at a later date, and progress shall be evaluated in 2020, 2025 and 2030.
