Entry into force notes
These Rules and Regulations shall take effect after fifteen (15) days from date of publication in the official gazette or a newspaper of general circulation.
Abstract

These implementing rules and regulations shall apply to all markets including food terminals, satellite markets, wet markets, dry markets, supermarkets, and other similar establishments operated by government agencies, private organisations or firms, individuals or entities. The Regulation provides standards for markets construction and sanitary facilities such as water supply, sewage disposal and drainage, toilet and hand washing facilities, solid waste management and vermin control. The Regulation further verifies orders for perishable food sections, quality and protection of food, transportation of food, bacterial treatment, washing utensils, weighing scale and dry goods section. Other regulations are set for sanitary requirements for supermarkets, responsibility of the consumers, marker stallholders, market manager and administrator. Part II of the Regulation refers to the abattoirs sanitary requirements including construction standards, sanitary requirements for slaughterhouse procedures and practices, disposal of condemned animals, sanitary requirements for personnel and sanitary permit. The regulation further provides for responsibility of the local health authority and penal provision. The Regulation consists of 11 Sections.
