Abstract

This Regulation, issued by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, consists of 24 articles and gives health rules and conditions for supermarkets and foodstuff sale shops. It provides for: a necessary municipal license; location and details for interior decor. It also gives regulations for workers, such as health card, annual medical examination, suitable and clean clothes. It provides for a suitable storehouse separate from other areas and prohibits display of goods outside the shop. A container with a removable cover shall be provided for the collection of waste and shall be discharged at sites designated by the concerned municipality. The Regulation specifies the different divisions of the supermarkets: (i) dry and canned foodstuff division; (ii) frozen and chilled foodstuff division; (iii) fresh meat sale division; (iv) fresh fish sale division; (v) vegetable and fruit sale division: and (vi) non-foodstuff division. For each division are given specifications. In case of pig meat sale or its products, it is necessary a separate partition with a sign. The same is requested for the sale of domestic animal and bird food.
