Abstract

This Regulation, issued by the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources, consists of 18 articles and gives health rules and conditions for foodstuff repackaging shops. It provides for: a necessary municipal license; location and details for interior decor; cleanliness measures including actions to prevent the entry of rodents, and the proper discharge of solid and liquid waste. It also gives regulations for workers, such as health card, annual medical examination, uniforms and matching caps, gloves and masks. The shop shall be divided in three sections: (i) a store for foodstuff to be repacked; (ii) a room for repackaging; and (iii) a room for preserving packed foodstuff. A forth section shall be included in case of shops for repackaging frozen foodstuff. For each sections are given specifications. The municipality has to be notified for any foodstuff intended to be repackaged so as to inspect and review the labels of the new packages which shall include the country of origin, the substance name, the new net weight, production and expiry dates, repackaging date, and title and address of the packaging agency.
