Abstract

This Act concerns the management of hazardous substances and applies prohibitions and restrictions to the manufacture, produce, import, export, movement, storage or use of persistent pollutants and hazardous chemicals and wastes. It also provides for the control of radioactive wastes. The Act requires the precautionary principle to be applied by persons and agencies having responsibilities under this Act. The Ministry shall be the Competent Authority for the purposes of this Act.
