Abstract

These Regulations are made pursuant to section 31 read with section 20A of the Employment of Women, Young Persons and Children Act, No. 47 of 1956. It prohibits employment of anyone under eighteen years of age in any type of work involving slaughter house, taking care or feeding animals; concerning aquaculture; involving pesticides or chemicals for food processing; involving tobacco or tobacco products; grinding mill; commercial or deep-water fishing; involving boats or vessels; involving trudging through or plucking flowers in wet lands; scavenging of garbage or sewage or cleaning of canals or drainage; logging of wood or felling of trees and other activities mentioned therein. These regulations shall not apply to a young person who is an intern, apprentice or a trainee attached to any Government or Non-Governmental Institute or Technical College for the purpose of skills development.
