The Regulations provide for the payment of aid to eligible persons who in respect of eligible land undertake not to use such land for agricultural production for a period of 20 years and to manage the land in accordance with the requirements set out in the Schedule to the Regulations with the purpose of maintaining, improving or protecting a wildlife habitat. Requirements include: (a) the beneficiary of the aid shall agree with a management plan for the land; (b) the beneficiary shall abstain from the use of any inorganic or organic fertilizers or pesticides; (c) the beneficiary shall abstain from planting trees; and (d) the beneficiary shall not install new drainage systems and maintain all existing watercourses, ditches, ponds, etc. (11 Regulations and a Schedule) Full text English Website www.opsi.gov.uk
