This is by implementing the principles of environmental management embedded in the National existing legislation and the use of best available techniques and best environmental practices. The Guidelines aim to provide for proper design of landfills, including siting, construction, operation, decommissioning and aftercare design requirements. This includes specific requirements for Class 1 landfills for hazardous waste and Class 2 landfill for non hazardous waste which includes biodegrable waste and landfills for inert waste other than similar waste.
