Abstract

These Water Sources Protection Guidelines for Point Source Water Supply systems describe steps to follow to prepare a Water Source Protection Plan by those concerned with piped water supply systems. They help the user identify the risk to a water source and to engage the people and organisations responsible for the problem in a positive way that lead to a mutually beneficial outcome. The Guidelines concern, among other things, protecting deep boreholes, shallow wells or boreholes, and protecting springs (from non-sustainable use and pollution).
