Furthermore, mainstreaming environmental sustainability in national policy and strategy frameworks offers these key advantages (i) improved understanding of the connection between development and the environment, leading to better synergy management; (ii) enhanced national policy effectiveness across sectors, resulting in greater societal development gains; (iii) increased sustainability of the development process by minimizing environmental harm.
