The approach outlined here may also be suitable for the purposes of assessing Land Damage at sites under the Environmental Liability Regulations (S.I. 547 of 2008). The principal aim in dealing with contaminated land and groundwater related issues is to secure the protection of human health, water bodies (including groundwater) and the wider environment. The risk based approach in this guidance is considered best practice for the assessment and remediation of contaminated land and groundwater at EPA licensed sites.
