Abstract

The purpose of the present Act is: a) to provide for the protection and stewardship of Manitoba's aquifers and groundwater; b) to ensure that the construction, maintenance and sealing of wells and test holes meet standards that protect: i) the environmental quality of Manitoba's aquifers and groundwater, and ii) human health and safety; and c) to provide for the collection and sharing of well, aquifer and groundwater information to better understand, manage, conserve, protect, develop and use Manitoba's aquifers and groundwater. The text consists of 95 sections divided into 11 Parts as follows: Introductory provisions (1); Licensing and certification (2); Protection of aquifers and groundwater (3); Additional measures, orders and compliance (4); Management of aquifers and groundwater (5); Public registry of groundwater information (6); General provisions (7); Regulations (8); Transitional provisions (9); Related and consequential amendments (10); Repeal,reference and coming into force (11).
