Abstract

This Governmental Resolution establishes that the Ministry of Energy is a specialized body of the central public administration, which implements the strategy and the program of governance in the field of energy and energy resources, energy generation, transportation, distribution and supply of electric and thermal energy, including energy from renewable/green, hydrogen or other sources of alternative/unconventional energy, in the field of operation, processing, transportation, distribution and capitalization of energy resources obtained from minerals/hydrocarbons, on-shore or off-shore, coal, uranium, oil and natural gas and their derivatives, in the field of civil nuclear radioactive waste management and heavy water management, in the field of maintenance and periodic inspections of technology and equipment in the field of energy efficiency and the Green Deal environmental pact, in compliance with the requirements of the market economy and acting legislation. The Ministry shall perform the following functions: (a) initiates, elaborates and promotes draft acts of regulations, coordinates and controls their application in coordinated fields; (b) substantiates the proposals for allocation of budgetary finances and investments in the field of energy; (c) manages state property in the field of responsibility; (d) implementation of state policy in the field of responsibility; (e) international cooperation; and (f) ensures the fulfillment, in the field of competence, of the obligations deriving from the status of Romania as a member state of European Union, including transposition and/or creating the legal framework for the direct application of legal acts related to mandatory implementation of the European Union, implementation and monitoring of their application.
