Abstract

This Governmental Ordinance implements Convention on biological diversity. Biological diversity is the national wealth of the Ukraine, conservation and inexhaustible management of which is recognized as one of the priorities of state policy in the sphere of nature management, ecological safety and environmental protection, and integral condition for the improvement of the state thereof and ecologically balanced socio-economic development. The purpose of the Program is to overcome the tendency of the degradation of the live components of the environment, ecologization of the spheres of public activity that can have negative impact on the components of biological diversity and environment and maximum efforts for the preservation of ecosystems in their primordial state. The main targets of the Program are: 1) minimization of the negative impact upon biological diversity; 2) utmost strengthening of the environmental basis of biological diversity; 3) carrying out scientific research and ecological education of citizens for the purpose of the formation among the population of the notion of the fundamental value of biological diversity in the vital activity of citizens and society.
