The National Veterinary Diagnostic Center is the national reference laboratory responsible for conducting tests related to animal health and safety of products of animal origin. The national competent authority should cooperate effectively and continuously, mutually exchanging general information and, where appropriate, specific data, with: (a) national food authorities; (b) structures and/or bodies responsible for collecting information on the epidemiological surveillance of notifiable diseases; (c) other interested bodies and institutions. Responsible persons of the national competent authority, if necessary, should be trained appropriately at the initial stage, followed by periodic retraining in veterinary medicine, microbiology and epidemiology.
