Abstract List of prohibited activities in the central ecological zone of Baikal natural territory includes, inter alia, the following activities: (a) forest management with the application of plant protection means, containing hazardous substances; (b) timber extraction, except for timber procurement by citizens for individual needs and timber extraction resulting from sanitary felling; (c) collection of soft resin; (d) exploration and mining; (e) dredging of Baikal lake in its water protection zone, in the beds of spawning rivers and their water protection zones; (f) tanning and dressing of leather, dressing and dyeing of fur, manufacturing of nuclear fuel and nuclear fuel-based products, manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products, manufacturing of rubber and plastics; (g) energy generation; (h) construction and reconstruction of hazardous and technically complex facilities and infrastructure; (i) capital construction of facilities not related to protected areas, recreation and tourism; (j) wholesale of solid, liquid and gaseous fuel; (k) inland waterway transport navigation related to small-size vessels not equipped with facilities for the collection and disposal of oils, bilge and domestic wastewater and production wastes, transportation of petroleum products, fertilizers, pesticides, hazardous and toxic substances without packaging in hermetically sealed containers; (l) use of vessels and other floating facilities within 3 kilometers zone from the rookeries of the Baikal seal and spawning grounds of valuable fish species of valuable fish species during the spawning period; (m) logging; (n) GMO-related research; (o) acclimatization of alien species; (p) military activities; (r) waste disposal; and (s) effluent waste water discharge.
