Abstract

This Regulation determines the list of goods subject to control by the sanitary border inspection, and the procedures by which the veterinary control of goods crossing the state (customs) border and of the means of transport carrying such goods is conducted and how compliance with the mandatory harmlessness and security requirements is controlled. Within the scope of their competence, officials of the Sanitary Border Inspection shall: 1) Carry out veterinary control of the goods listed in Annex 1 of the present Regulation. 2) Upon importation of goods into the territory of the Republic of Latvia (also into the free zone) from the territory of another state. 3) Upon exportation of goods from the territory of the Republic of Latvia to the territory of another state; and 4) If the goods are stored in customs warehouse; and 5). Control compliance of the goods listed in Annex 2 of the present Regulation with mandatory harmlessness and security requirements: a) upon importation of goods from the territory of another state, free state, free zone or customs warehouse for free circulation, duty-free shop or processing; and b) if the goods are stored in customs warehouses. The Regulation consists of 9 Paragraphs and contains 2 Annexes. The list of products subject to border inspection includes animals and animal products, and also fish products.
