Governmental Decree No. 1237-N “On the approval of common sanitary and hygiene requirements for the products subject to sanitary control (supervision), requirements for the safety of food and nutrition value, list of products defined by common sanitary requirements, sanitary requirements for canned products, indicators of parasitic safety for fish, crayfish, fillets, amphibious, reptiles and the products of their processing”.

This Governmental Decree enters into force on 29 November 2014.
Abstract

This Governmental Decree validates the list of commodities subject to sanitary-epidemiological control (supervision), requirements for the safety of food and nutrition value, list of products defined by common sanitary requirements, sanitary requirements for canned products, indicators of parasitic safety for fish, crayfish, fillets, amphibious, reptiles and the products of their processing with a view of ensuring food safety. It shall be applicable also to enriched foodstuffs (with the exception of infant food and biologically active food additives) and special nutritional and dietetic foodstuffs for sportsmen containing vitamins and mineral substances. Sanitary-hygienic examination and testing of foodstuffs, qualitative and quantitative composition thereof shall be performed by accredited laboratories that must conduct research, testing and measurements. Labelling of foodstuffs must provide consumer with the information related to the origin of product and the manufacturer. Foodstuffs authorized for human consumption and trade must comply with hygienic, sanitary and food safety requirements. For new types of foodstuffs produced on the national territory the manufacturers (business entities and individual entrepreneurs) shall define and indicate safety and nutritional value requirements, expiry dates and testing methodologies. Import of new types of foodstuffs shall be subject to prior assessment of compliance thereof with acting hygienic, sanitary and food safety requirements. Foodstuffs for special dietary purposes, infant food, foodstuffs containing biologically active ingredients and flavorings must have indication on the label of the content of ingredients, nutritional value and substances used for food enrichment and also contraindications. Foodstuffs containing biologically active additives must have indication on the label “Not a drug”.
