Abstract

The General Provisions of this Resolution (sects. 1 to 12) provide for procedures of stopping, boarding and inspection of foreign vessels in the territorial sea and Economic Zone of Lithuania in the Baltic Sea by State Environmental Inspectors in accordance with provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection, other laws and regulations on the protection of fishing and fish resources. The captain of the fishing vessel violating legislation on the protection of fish and fish resources in the EEZ and Territorial Sea of Lithuania may be prosecuted and the "violator" may be hold to compensate loss incurred according to established tariffs. The second part of the Resolution makes provision for special measures to be applied to foreign vessels of which the captain refuses to comply with signals, calls or other enforcement actions of Environmental Inspectors or the border police.
