Abstract

This Government Regulation regulates trawl fishing for shrimp within 6 nautical miles into the waters under Mozambican jurisdiction. It consists of 29 articles and 2 annexes, authorizing shrimp fishing to vessels (national or foreign) flying a national flag (art. 1). A maximum number of 100 authorized licences for shrimp fishing may be allowed (with an unlimited number of authorized vessels) (art. 2). Crew must be of Portuguese nationality (art. 3). It also provides for fishing gear, minimum mesh size, requirements to be satisfied for obtaining a fishing licence and sanctions to be paid for illegal activities. Annexes lay down the forms for catching registration. Transhipment is prohibited.
