The Council shall, among other things: (a) follow national and international developments in research, technology and innovation; (b) evaluate developments within the sphere of its authority; (c) address major matters relating to the development of science, technology and innovation policy and prepare proposals and plans in these fields for the Government; (d) address matters relating to the development and allocation of public research and innovation funding on a preparatory basis for the Government; and (e) coordinate Government activities in the field of science, technology and innovation policy.
