Abstract The present Decree applies to the control of highly pathogenic avian influenza in poultry and other birds in captivity. It sets out measures to be taken in case of suspected avian influenza, including the possibility of establishing a restriction zone by the Food Safety Authority due to a suspicion of the disease. It further prescribes measures to be taken to prevent the spread of the disease when it has been detected. The Decree also contains provisions on highly pathogenic influenza in circuses, zoos, and wildlife parks and similar places; suspicion of highly pathogenic influenza in slaughterhouses and border inspection points; the functioning of restriction zones when the disease has been detected; tracking of animals and products from these zones; prohibition of vaccination against influenza in animals; national contingency plans; diagnostic procedures and sampling methods; etc. Full text Swedish Website mmm.fi
