Government Decree No. HG385/2009 “On some measures to organize and implement veterinary and sanitary certification.” Country/Territory Moldova, Republic of Document type Regulation Date 2009 (2018) Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Livestock Keyword Certification Hygiene/sanitary procedures Monitoring International trade Data collection/reporting Access-to-information Animal health Geographical area CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, Landlocked Developing Nations Abstract An official veterinarian must: (a) know the current veterinary and sanitary legislation in the field of veterinary and sanitary certification of animals and products of animal origin; (b) comply with the veterinary and sanitary requirements provided for by the current veterinary and sanitary legislation when filling out and issuing veterinary and sanitary certificates; (c) certify the data verified by an authorized freely practicing veterinarian contracted by the territorial divisions of the National Agency for Food Safety and acting under the supervision of an official veterinarian, provided that he can verify the accuracy of this information; (d) certify data obtained through monitoring programs by reference to official quality control plans, or through official epidemiological surveillance systems; (e) fill out correctly (clearly and legibly) and issue a veterinary and sanitary certificate, checking the completeness of the questionnaires, tests and laboratory tests performed; (f) in case of export, fill out the veterinary and sanitary certificate in the state language and in one or two languages of international communication that are official in the country of destination and in transit countries; and (g) store the counterfoils of all veterinary and sanitary certificates for 3 years. An official veterinarian is prohibited from: (a) certifying data about which he has insufficient knowledge or which he cannot verify; and (b) sign blank, partially completed veterinary and sanitary certificates or veterinary and sanitary certificates for animals or products of animal origin that he has not examined.
