The content of additives in animal feed should not exceed more than 100 a multiple of the maximum value established for complete feed, or more than 5-multiple for coccidiostats or histomonostats. This is the maximum value of the established for complete feed can only be exceeded if the composition of the products corresponds to the specific nutritional purpose. No additives may be placed on the market, processed or used in feed for animals if: 1) the following conditions of use are not met: (a) the amount of additives naturally present in animal feed raw materials, is calculated in such a way that the sum of added and naturally occurring elements did not exceed the maximum level; (b) a mixture of additives in animal feed from premixes and feed is allowed for supply to market only if there is physical, chemical and biological compatibility of the elements of mixtures, depending on the desired effect; (c) additional diluted feed should not contain additives, exceeding the established level for complete feed; and (d) for premixes containing silage additives, after the word “premix” on the label the concept of “silage additives” must be clearly indicated; 2) do not comply with the labelling requirements; 3) are presented in a manner that may mislead the consumer, using an appropriate additive; and 4) cause harm to the consumer as a result of changes in the specific properties of products of animal origin or mislead the consumer regarding the properties of products of animal origin. A feed additive for animals must meet the following requirements: (a) has a positive effect on the health of animals, people or the environment; (b) has a beneficial effect on feed; (c) has a positive effect on products of animal origin; (d) has a positive effect on the color of ornamental fish or birds; (e) satisfies the nutritional requirements of animals; (f) guarantees the environmental quality of livestock products; (g) has a beneficial effect on the production, performance or welfare of animals, especially on the gastrointestinal flora or feed digestibility; and (h) has a coccidiostatic or histomonostatic effect. Antibiotics other than coccidiostatics or histomonostatics are not permitted to be used as feed additives.
