Abstract The mission of the Agency is to ensure the implementation of state policy in areas aimed at ensuring food safety and quality of foodstuffs, including ethyl alcohol, liquors and wine, maintaining a system of government measures aimed at ensuring animal health and plant protection, food and raw materials safety, as well as consumer protection in the food sector. The Agency performs the functions set out in this Regulation in the following areas of activity: (a) veterinary and sanitary and animal husbandry; (b) phytosanitary and plant protection; (c) food safety and quality; (d) control of the production and circulation of ethyl alcohol, wine and liquors; (e) consumer protection in the food sector; and (f) compliance with licensing requirements according to the field of activity. The main functions of the Agency are: (a) preventing and combating violations in relevant areas of activity; (b) state control over business activities in the relevant field of activity; (c) publication of normative administrative acts in relevant fields of activity within the competence provided by normative acts; (d) coordination, management and control of the application of legal norms in the relevant field of activity, as well as control of the functioning of its divisions; (e) management of human, financial and material resources, support of specific activities with the help of information and communication technologies, legal representation, internal audit, as well as internal and external communications; (f) international cooperation in relevant fields of activity; and (g) issuance of permits in relevant areas of activity within the competence provided by regulations.
