Abstract This Government Decree regulates the registration of organizations involved in the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). The national environmental authority shall decide on the registration of organizations within the European Union with a validated environmental statement (EMAS) in the register of the environmental management and verification system (EMAS). The organization shall declare compliance with environmental legislation and Regulation (EC) No. 1221/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council for registration. The national environmental authority shall, during the registration procedure, examine whether the organization complies with Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council during its operation, and shall seek the opinion of the competent environmental authority in order to ascertain that: whether the organization complies with the environmental legislation in force or whether it is subject to an environmental or nature protection obligation, including the obligation to pay environmental and nature protection fines, as determined by a decision of a public authority or a court judgment that condemns the organization. In order to implement the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), contacts the requesting organizations: (a) the national environmental authority shall provide information on Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council; (b) the environmental authority shall provide information on the environmental legislation of the organizations and how they can demonstrate compliance with them.
