Abstract These Regulations, consisting of 39 sections divided into eight Parts, aim to the following issues: (a) to provide for the elimination and minimisation, so far as is practicable, of risks to public safety, the environment, land, property or infrastructure involved in undertaking geothermal energy operations; and (b) to prescribe requirements for operation plans; and (c) to prescribe various administrative matters, fees and other requirements authorised by the Act. These Regulations are made under section 169 of the Geothermal Energy Resources Act 2005. The Regulations are divided as follows: Preliminary (Part 1); Exempt operations (Part 2); Extraction licences (Part 3); Development plans (Part 4); Operation plan (Part 5); Reporting (Part 6); Geothermal energy register (Part 7); Administrative matters and fees (Part 8).
