Abstract

This Standard relates to processed and perishable foods in Japan and concerns the genetically modified food labelling standard. It consists of 5 articles, i.e. Scope (1); Definitions (2); Labelling method (3); Processed food not requiring labelling (4); Labelling prohibitions (5). Article 2 defines relevant terms, genetically modified agricultural products defined as those agricultural products obtained through recombinant DNA techniques. Items subject to labelling are listed in the table as well as the ingredient to be labelled.
