Abstract

The present Regulations are made under section 9 of the Fisheries Act. In particular, the Regulations lay down provisions relating to the issuing of different fish processing licenses on behalf of the Minister. He may issue a buying license for one or more of the following classes: a) lobster; b) other crustaceans; c) groundfish; d) molluscs; e) pelagic; and f) other fish. The text – consisting of 12 sections – deals with the following aspects: types of licenses, primary processing, terms of license, species and product forms, separate establishment, inspections, display of license, specific license required, co-operative associations, class of licences, inspection of facilities, fees, opening and closing seasons. Four Schedules are enclosed.
