The Legislature recognizes the continuing need for inland navigation districts to undertake programs necessary to accomplish the purposes of construction, maintenance, and operation of Florida’s inland waterways pursuant to the federal River and Harbor Act of 1960, and that it is in the public interest for inland navigation districts to operate and maintain the intracoastal waterway and any other public navigation channels authorized by the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund.
