Country/Territory Document type Regulation Date 2016 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Marine fisheries Fishery management and conservation Fishing authorization Data collection/reporting Crustaceans Exploration Monitoring Inspection Aquatic animals Authorization/permit Abstract This Measure of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR), adopted in accordance with Article IX of the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, requires all Members of the Commission intending to fish for krill in the Convention Area to make best efforts to ensure that its fishing vessels engaging in the krill fishery carry on board at least one scientific observer appointed in accordance with the CCAMLR Scheme of International Scientific Observation or any other observer appointed by the Contracting Party. Each Contracting Party shall also ensure that its fishing vessels engaging in the krill fishery carry out a systematic scientific observer coverage scheme (as specified) in accordance with the CCAMLR Scheme, or by any other observer appointed by the Contracting Party, throughout all fishing activities in all fishing seasons. For the purpose of implementing this conservation measure, the data requirements set out in Conservation Measure 23-06 apply.
