General Directions formulate the targets, the tasks, the directions and the methods of the ensuring the interests of Russia in the sphere of efficient use of aquatic biological resources. The main directions of the realization of General Directions include improvement of management of aquatic biological resources, regulation of fisheries and setting up conditions for the delivery of fish products to the internal market, organization and development of coastal fisheries, aquaculture and mariculture, creation of conditions for operation of the Russian fishing vessels in the EEZ of the foreign states and in the fishing areas regulated by the international fisheries conventions in the open areas of the World Ocean, improvement of the system of conservation of aquatic biological resources and improvement of the branch scientific research.
