Abstract

This Measure of the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR) expresses concern that certain activities associated with fishing may affect the Antarctic marine environment. In this contexts, it introduces measures to minimize such arising from fishing-related activities in the context of mitigating incidental mortality of non-target species and protecting the marine environment in accordance with Article IX of the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL). Measures concern disposal of plastic bags, discharge of waste (including offal and poultry waste), return of fish to sea, and introduction of poultry in certain areas.
