Abstract This Act, consisting of 20 sections divided into six Parts, aims at adopting in New South Wales an approach to the regulation of genetically modified organisms in line with the decisions and regulation of the Commonwealth of Australia. For this purpose, the Act applies the Gene Technology Act 2000 and the Gene Technology (Licence Charges) Act 2000 of the Commonwealth as a law of the State.
