Country/Territory Brunei Darussalam Document type Regulation Date Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Fisheries Keyword Animal health Aquaculture Authorization/permit Cartilaginous fishes Certification Fish disease Fish products Fishery management and conservation Fishing gear/fishing method Hygiene/sanitary procedures International trade Marine fishes Molluscs Post-harvest treatment Processing/handling Registration Transport/storage Geographical area Asia, Asia and the Pacific, South-Eastern Asia Abstract This Regulation, consisting of 11 articles, provides for the rules to be met to import frozen fish, in particular, it establishes that (i) importers must be registered with the Fisheries Department of the Ministri of Primary Resources and Tourism; (ii) they must have a valid frozen fish import license; (iii) imported frozen fish species must be included in the ones listed in the approved fish import license application; (iv) imported frozen fish must be from a supplier registered with the Competent Authority of the exporting country; (v) each consignment must have a Free Sale Certificate or Health Certificate issued by the Competent Authority of the exporting country; (vi) importers must allow the Department of Fisheries to obtain samples of imported frozen fish for laboratory analysis; (vii) in required, they must inform the Fisheries Department of the date and time of importation for the purpose of inspection and sampling and must provide information on each importation of frozen fish to the Fisheries Department for storage record purposes. Article 4 lists the frozen fish the importation of which is prohibited, namely (i) some small fish (listed in detail), all types of shellfish from areas affected by the occurrence of red water; (ii) fish caught using explosives, chemicals, poisons; (iii) all species of sharks.
