Country/Territory Russian Federation Document type Regulation Date 2001 Source FAO, FAOLEX Subject Forestry Keyword Protected area Cultural heritage Non-timber products Timber Timber extraction/logging Forest management/forest conservation Geographical area Arctic, Asia and the Pacific, Black Sea, Caspian Sea, CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Eastern Europe, Europe, Europe and Central Asia, North Pacific, North-West Pacific Abstract This Forestry Regulation establishes the following authorized forest uses on the territory of state nature reserve “Baikalo-Lenskiy” of national significance that covers North-Western coastal area of the Baikal lake and is included in the UNESCO world cultural and natural heritage list: (a) timber extraction (as selective cutting) and thinning for sanitary purposes; (b) collection of non-timber forest products and medicinal plants for personal consumption by the staff and by the population living within the boundaries of reserve; (c) tourism for educational purposes; and (d) economic management of the objects of forest infrastructure. It establishes norms and rates of authorized timber extraction, forest species subject to timber extraction and age of mature and over-mature standing timber subject to felling. It also specifies extension of felling area, annual norms of authorized annual allowable amount of collection of non-timber forest products. Procurement of soft resin on the territory of reserve shall be prohibited. The period of validity of this Forestry Regulation shall be until 1 January 2016. Full text Russian Website www.mnr.gov.ru
