Subject Forestry Keyword Framework law Forest management/forest conservation Forestry protection measures Protected area Offences/penalties Authorization/permit Geographical area Africa, Atlantic Ocean Islands, Western Africa Abstract This Ordinance empowers the Governor in Council to constitute as: (a) a National Forest any area of Crown Land; or (b) a Dedicated Forest any area of any privately owned land in respect of which he has received a written request from the owner that it shall be placed under the control of the Forestry Officer; or (c) a Protected Private Forest, any area of privately owned land, which the Governor is satisfied is managed on sound forestry principles and in respect of which the Governor has received a written request from the owner that it should receive the protection of the Forestry. The Ordinance sets out procedural requirements for such constitution and provides with respect to amendment, variation or revocation of an Order constituting a Forest. It also provides for protection and control of any National Forest, Dedicated Forest or Protected Private Forest. Except if authorized, no person shall carry out specified activities that may damage Forests. The Governor in Council may also declare Controlled Areas.
