Abstract This Forestry Act establishes the policy to be applied on forestry sector within the State of Minas Gerais. It consists of 36 articles and 1 annex specifying the requirements to be satisfied in order to exploit forest areas. The main objectives of this Forestry Act concern: the protection of endangered forest trees and biodiversity, the management and sustainable exploitation of forestry resources, the promotion of forestry seeds and reforestation, etc. A list of fines to be paid for illegal activity is specified in the Annex.
