Abstract

The present Act lays down provisions relating to the management of forest resources. In particular, the purpose of this Act is to promote the sustainable use of forest land for the benefit of current and future generations by balancing the need for economic, social and cultural opportunities with the need to maintain and enhance the health of forest land. The text - consisting of 109 sections – deals, inter alia, with the following matters: administration, management of forest resources, management units and integrated forest land use plans, harvesting of forest products, forest management agreements, term supply licences, forest product permits, scaling and measurements, wood residue, zoning and development, roads and railways, protection of forest products, forest and trees, and penalties.
